The automated check-in service checks you in automatically. Your boarding pass is sent by text or email directly to your mobile phone—about 23 hours before your flight’s departure.
- If you have a Lufthansa iD profile or are a Miles & More customer, the automated check-in is already enabled for you:
- On flights in the Schengen area
- For flights booked up to 24 hours before departure (in which case your boarding pass will be sent to you 23 hours before your flight’s departure via email or by text to the mobile number you have entered in your profile.
- All self-services will also be available to you—such as:

How to check in online at Lufthansa
The online check-in at Lufthansa starts 23 hours before departure and closes 3 hours to 60 minutes before departure, depending on your departure airport and travel class.
Here’s how you can web check in for international/domestic flights:
- Go to Lufthansa.com
- Click on Check-in (lower part of your screen)
(To log in from your Lufthansa iD or Miles & More account, click on the link that says ‘Log in for check-in’, and follow the on-screen prompts to check in) - Enter your:
- First name
- Last name
- Your booking code or ticket number
- Hit the Check-in button
- Follow the prompts to check in
You can also click on the link that says Further check-in options to check in with your:
- Booking reference or ticket number
- Frequent Flyer card
- Tour operator trip without booking code
When you’re checking in, you will also be able to:
- Select a seat for yourself

Mobile Lufthansa Check-in
Online check-in with the Lufthansa mobile app
You can check in with Lufthansa’s mobile app by logging in, entering your flight details, and confirming your check-in. Once you check in, you will receive your electronic boarding pass.
Online check-in with the mobile app not only lets you check in for your flight and download your mobile boarding pass easily but also:
- Book flights
- Make changes to your flight
- Cancel your flight
- Check/share your flight status
- Make/cancel car reservations
- Access your Rapid Rewards account

Lufthansa Mobile Boarding Pass
After you’ve checked in for your flight, you will receive your mobile boarding pass in your boarding pass file, via email, or as an SMS link on your smartphone. After your receive your mobile boarding pass, you can manage it offline on the Lufthansa app, Google Play, or Wallet.
Although the mobile boarding pass is available for most destinations, in some cases due to official regulations it may not be issued at some destinations. In such cases, you will receive a check-in confirmation and then be handed your boarding pass at the airport desk.
If you run into any problems with the mobile boarding pass, you can obtain it either from a check-in machine or Lufthansa’s airport check-in counter.
If you are travelling only with carry-on baggage, proceed straight to your gate after clearing security checks. If you’re carrying checked baggage, check in your luggage at a Lufthansa bag drop-off counter/bag drop kiosk and proceed to the gate after security checks.
Passengers Not Eligible for Mobile Check-in
Passengers with the following types of reservations are not eligible for mobile check-in—and must check in physically at the airport ticket counter:

You can use Lufthansa’s Quick Boarding turnstiles at select gates in Munich, Frankfurt, and several other airports across the world. These gates allow you to board your aircraft faster and more conveniently.
How Quick Boarding Works
To avail of quick boarding:
- Place your boarding pass on the scanner, keeping the barcode face down.
- You will be let through after a short verification process.
If any last-minute changes have been made, such as a change of seat, etc., the machine will print out a new coupon with the updated information.
