Under the recent changes made to Hawaiian Airlines flight change policy, Hawaiian Airlines has eliminated the change fee for all but Main Cabin Basic passengers.
Highlights of Hawaiian Airlines new flight change policy are as follows:
- You will not be charged a change fee for making flight changes to a Main Cabin or a higher fare.
- You will not be charged a change fee for making flight changes to an award ticket purchased with your HawaiianMiles points.
- COVID-19 Travel Waivers
Hawaiian Airlines COVID-19 travel waivers apply to all types of tickets, including award tickets purchased with HawaiianMiles and Main Cabin Basic tickets.- If you purchased your ticket between March 1 and Dec. 31, 2020:
- The validity of your ticket has been extended for 2 years from the original date of purchase of the ticket.
- You will not be charged any change fee for rebooking your flight during its extended validity period, but you will have to pay the difference in fare (if applicable). If your new fare is cheaper, the difference will not be credited to your account.
- If you purchased your ticket before March 1, 2020, for travel between March 1, 2020, and Feb. 28, 2021:
- The validity of your ticket has been extended till May 31, 2022.
- You will not be charged any change fee for rebooking your flight up to May 31, 2022, but you will have to pay the difference in fare (if applicable). If your new fare is cheaper, the difference will not be credited to your account.
- If you purchased your ticket from an online travel agency or a travel agent:
- The same conditions (mentioned above) will apply.
- You must request them directly to rebook your flight.
- If you purchased your ticket between March 1 and Dec. 31, 2020:
Hawaiian Airlines Flight Change Policy for Main Cabin Basic Fares
According to Hawaiian Airlines flight change policy for Main Cabin Basic fares:
- You cannot make changes to a Main Cabin Basic ticket.
- If you want to make changes to a Main Cabin Basic ticket, your best bet is to cancel it within the risk-free 24-hour cancellation window and rebook.
- You cannot select a seat until check-in.
- You cannot upgrade a Main Cabin Basic ticket to a Preferred Seat, Extra Comfort Seat, or Business or First Class.
Hawaiian Airlines Flight Change Policy Under Medical Waiver
If you have to change your flight because you (or a family member or a co-passenger) were hospitalized, you may qualify for a change fee waiver on a Main Cabin Basic ticket. You can change or cancel your flight online or by phone.
To change your flight online and rebook later, you will need to:
- Complete a Medical Waiver Request form.
- Share a scanned copy of the above-mentioned form with HawaiianAirlines.com/CAO.
If Hawaiian Airlines approves your request, your change fee will be refunded to you within 30 days.
How to Change a Hawaiian Airlines Flight
According to Hawaiian Airlines flight change policy, if you want to make changes to an existing flight, you must:
- First cancel your flight by phone or online.
- Then rebook your new ticket prior to its expiration by contacting Hawaiian Airlines Reservations—you cannot cancel online.
Note. When you rebook your ticket (except Main Cabin Basic), the change fee will be waived, and you will have to pay the fare difference (if any). If your new fare is cheaper, the fare difference will not be credited to your account.
To cancel your Hawaiian Airlines’ flight online:
- Go to the homepage: HawaiianAirlines.com
- Retrieve your trip from My Trips by entering travel details
(i.e., your last name and confirmation code/E-ticket number) - Select and your flight and cancel it

If you’ve purchased your flight ticket from a travel website or agency, you will need to contact them directly for making any changes to your reservation.
Hawaiian Airlines Flight Change Fee
According to Hawaiian Airlines flight change policy:
- Hawaiian Airlines has eliminated the change fee for all but Main Cabin Basic fares. This means you will no longer have to pay any change fee for Main Cabin, Business Class, and First Class tickets. Plus, you will not be charged a change fee for making changes to an award ticket purchased with HawaiianMiles.
- The refund fee for restricted refundable fares is:
- USD 25 for neighboring islands
- USD 100 for North America flights
- USD 100 for international flights
- Pulani Platinum and Gold members, as well as corporate passengers, are entitled to make free same-day standby changes to neighbor island flights.
- Main Cabin Basic tickets are non-changeable and non-refundable.
