The JetBlue change flight policy is more passenger-friendly now—there are no change fees on most fares. You can now change any flight ticket except Blue Basic without a fee—and rebook it through your ticket’s validity period online or by phone.

JetBlue Flight Change Policy for Standard Tickets

According to the JetBlue change flight policy for standard tickets: 

  • No change fee will apply for Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, and Mint fares if you change up to the day before your flight’s departure. 
  • Blue Basic fares will incur a change fee of (in addition to the applicable fare difference):
    • USD 100 per passenger for travel within North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
    • USD 200 per passenger for all other routes.

JetBlue policy for changing flight dates and/or destination

When you change your flight date and/or departure/destination city of your flight:

  • You must pay the fare difference if your new ticket is costlier.
  • If your new ticket is cheaper, the difference will be credited to your account.
  • You can make the changes online through Manage Trips (if you purchased your ticket directly from JetBlue) or call JetBlue through +1-800-JETBLUE. Changing by phone will cost you USD 25 per passenger.

If you’re holding a nonrefundable ticket and you’re not sure when you’ll be travelling again, you can apply for a JetBlue Travel Bank Credit. Most Travel Bank Credits are valid for 12 months from the date of original issue.

JetBlue Same Day Flight Change Policy

According to the same-day flight change policy, you can make a same-day confirmed switch for Blue, Blue Plus, and Mint fares for a flat fee of USD 75 without paying any fare difference. However, same-day flight changes are free for Mosaic members and Blue Extra fares.

Same-Day Switch Details

Other points to remember about same-day switches are as follows:

  • Same-day switches can only be made on the day of travel, starting at midnight in your departing flight’s time zone. 
  • You can make a same-day switch on any fare option. 
  • You can make a same-day switch to an earlier or later flight on the day of your original flight.
  • You must travel between the same city pairs or in or out of nearby airports, as shown below under Airport Options.
  • You can make a same-day switch starting at midnight in your departing flight’s time zone—and on the same calendar day as your original flight. 
  • Mosaic members will not be charged any same-day switch fees and can switch their flights starting 24 hours before the originally scheduled flight.
  • Passengers traveling on refundable fares will not be charged a same-day switch fee.
  • TrueBlue redemption bookings qualify for same-day switches.
  • Interline bookings may qualify for same-day switches, subject to meeting the minimum connection times and other conditions. To make a same-day switch to an interline booking, you must contact JetBlue.

JetBlue Same Day Standby Travel

You can opt for same-day standby travel for an additional fee of USD 75 (no fare difference will apply). To be eligible for standby travel on JetBlue, you should already hold a seat on the airline. You can list for standby travel on any sold-out flight on the same day and between the same cities as your original confirmed flight.

Points to Remember 

  • The fee for getting listed for standby travel is USD 75 for all fare types excluding Blue Extra.
  • The same-day standby travel fee is refundable if you don’t get a confirmed seat.
  • You must:
    • List for standby travel at the airport prior to your original flight—you will not be able to do it online or by phone. 
    • Fly between the same city pairs. 
  • If you were flying on an Even More Space seat and then switch to standby travel, your seat fee will be forfeited.
  • To be eligible for standby travel, there must be multiple flights departing from your city. 
  • Mint passengers can only travel standby on a Mint seat (if available) for USD 75. If a core seat is allotted, no refund of the Mint experience will be provided.
  • To list for standby travel, only one passenger per booking is required at the airport. However, for checking in, every passenger must be present. 
  • Mosaic members and passengers with refundable fares will not be charged to list for standby travel. 

JetBlue Flight Change Policy for Mosaic Members

JetBlue has waived all change fees for Mosaic members, including the passengers on their itinerary. Also, no change fee will apply for same-day switches.

JetBlue Change Fees

Changing your flight booking by phone will incur a service fee of USD 25/passenger—in addition to the change fee (if any).

  • The change fees for BlueBasic fares are:
    • USD 100/passenger for itineraries within North America, the Caribbean, and Central America.
    • USD 200/passenger for all other routes.
  • The same-day change fee for Blue, Blue Plus, and Mint fares is USD 75. 
  • No same-day change fee applies for Mosaic members and Blue Extra fares.

JetBlue Change Fee Tips 

If you’re making changes to your flight booking by phone, have the following information ready:

  • Your flight confirmation number 
  • Your flight number 
  • Your travel date(s) 
  • Your (passenger’s) date of birth, contact details, etc.

If you’re changing your flight booking online, have the following information ready:

  • Your confirmation code
  • Your last name
  • Your city of origin and destination 

You will not be able to change your flight booking online if:

  • You purchased your ticket with a JetBlue voucher or a travel certificate.
  • You booked a special service request. 
  • Your return flight has a different city than the flight you originally booked. 
  • You purchased your ticket from a third party.

In all such scenarios, you must either call JetBlue for assistance (or the third party you purchased your ticket from).

JetBlue Change Flight Policy for Non Refundable Fares

Per JetBlue’s change flight policy, all fares—incl. nonrefundable ones—can be changed without penalty except Blue Basic fares. Also, all bookings made 7 or more days before departure can be cancelled without penalty up to 24 hours after you make the booking.

 Blue Basic fares can be modified for a change flight fee of USD 100 within North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, and for USD 200 for all other routes (difference in fares applies).

For Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, and Mint fares, only the fare difference applies.

JetBlue Change Policy for Refundable Fares

According to the JetBlue change flight policy, refundable JetBlue fares can be changed (or cancelled) before the scheduled departure time. 

  • If you cancel a refundable fare, the value of your fare will be placed in a JetBlue Travel Credit for future travel on the airline. You can use these credits to change your flight online or pay the fare difference—but you will not be allowed to pay for the following services:
    • Even More Space seats
    • Baggage fees
    • Unaccompanied Minor fees
    • Pet fees
  • If you don’t change or cancel a refundable ticket before its scheduled departure time, the entire value of the ticket will be converted into a JetBlue Travel Bank Credit that you can use later for travelling on JetBlue. 
  • Refundable fares are available only on select routes/flights.

Flight Change Policy for Cancelled Flights

If JetBlue cancels a flight on which you hold a confirmed reservation, you have the option to:

  • Take the next available flight at no additional charge, or
  • Request a Travel Bank credit, or
  • Request a refund if your flight cannot be rebooked within 2 hours 

Also, if your flight is cancelled within 4 hours of its scheduled departure time, you are entitled to claim compensation. However, this applies only when: 

  1. A flight is cancelled due to a controllable irregularity within JetBlue’s control, and 
  2. Alternate transportation is not available within 1 hour of the scheduled departure time

The compensation amount is USD 50 in the form of travel credit for future travel if the alternative transportation is available within 4 hours of the flight and a USD 100 travel credit for future travel if the alternative flight is available after the scheduled departure time. 

Flight Change Policy for Delayed Flights

If your flight is delayed due to a controllable irregularity (within JetBlue’s control), you are entitled to compensation toward future travel on JetBlue.

How to Change Jetblue Flight Booking?

You can change your JetBlue flight booking in the following ways:

  1. If you purchased your ticket directly from JetBlue, you can change your flight ticket:
    • Online via Manage Trips
      (retrieve your flight and follow the prompts to change it)
    • By phone at +1-800-JETBLUE. 
  2. If you purchased your ticket from a travel agent, contact them directly.
  3. If you want to change an award ticket, you will need to:
    • First, cancel it online.
    • Then contact TrueBlue directly.

Note. When you cancel an award ticket, your TrueBlue points will be credited back to your TrueBlue account and any amount you paid by cash/check/credit card will be credited into your JetBlue Travel Bank account for future use within the expiration date (usually 12 months from the original date of issue). 

Remember, award flight redemption rates can fluctuate with the airfares. So if the airfares go up at the time of rebooking, you will have to pay more TrueBlue points than what you paid originally.

How to Change Jetblue Flight Online?

If you booked your ticket directly from JetBlue, you can change your travel date, time, and/or destination online through Manage Trips as explained below. 

  1. Go to JetBlue.com 
  2. Select the Manage Trips tab 
  3. Enter your: 
    • Confirmation code
    • Last name 
  4. Click on the Find Flight button
  5. Select the flight booking you want to change
  6. Make the changes by following the prompts
    (incl. date, time, and/or destination)  

You can also change your JetBlue flight booking through the mobile app. 

Jetblue Flight Schedule Change 

If JetBlue changes your flight, you have the following options depending on the change duration:

  • Flight Change of 60 Minutes or less
    • If you make any voluntary changes, they will be subject to an increase in airfare and the applicable fee.
    • If your flight qualifies for a fee waiver, you can change/cancel without any fees, depending on the type of fee waiver. 
  • Flight Change Between 61 and 119 minutes
    • You have the following options:
      • Travel on a different JetBlue flight on the same day, the day before, or the day after your original flight without paying additional charges, or
      • Cancel your flight and receive a JetBlue Travel Bank credit
  • Flight Change from a Nonstop to Connecting or Stopover Flight/at least 2 hours

After you make the changes, your new ticket will be subject to the applicable refundable/nonrefundable fare rules. 

You can also change your fare type from Blue Basic to Blue or Blue to Mint, and so on, any time before your flight’s departure by paying the applicable difference in airfares and change fee.

To change your flight itinerary, you must contact your original booking source—whether it’s JetBlue, an airline partner, or your travel agency. If you booked through Spirit Airlines, you must contact them directly.

In some cases, you may be able to make the changes online through Manage Trips on JetBlue.com. However, if you’re unable to make any changes through Manage Trips, you must contact your travel agent for assistance.

How can I change the extras I purchased for my ticket?

Once you’ve added any extras to your ticket online via Manage Trips, you cannot remove them or have them refunded unless you cancel your entire itinerary. As an exception, the pet fee can be refunded before the scheduled departure time.
   
If you make any changes to your flight, the extras purchased by you will be refunded to your original form of payment. You will then need to purchase the extras for your new flight (if you wish).

What if JetBlue changes my flight schedule?

If JetBlue changes your flight schedule and you accept it, you can still make a one-time change to your itinerary without being charged for it (in some cases).
