  • You can only request upgrade awards on qualifying revenue class tickets, such as:
    • Standard Premium Economy tickets (L and T)

    • Standard Economy tickets (M, H, and Q) 
    • Up fare Economy tickets (Y and B) 
  • You must have enough award miles/electronic upgrade certificates that are valid as of the date of departure and earned on the same account number. 
  • You’re not allowed to request an upgrade award at the airport check-in counter. 
  • Award upgrades can be requested online through EVA Air’s website or reservation office. If your ticket was issued by a travel agent or a third party, you must contact the EVA Air reservation office to request an upgrade.
  • If you cancel an upgraded booking before departure, your Miles or Upgrade Certificate will be automatically re-deposited to your account. If you cancel after the departure date, the re-deposit may take 3 – 5 days. 
  • You must print the original ticketing class category if you’re purchasing the ticket and booking Designator for the upgrade award.
  • Upgrade award bookings only apply to EVA Air and UNI Air routes (international) having BR or B7 numbered flights, except for chartered flights and select codeshare routes with some partner airlines.
  • Economy Y, B, M, H, and Q tickets qualify for upgrade awards to Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel/Business by deducting the miles. Electronic Upgrade Certificates can only be used for upgrading to the next higher class.
  • Upgrades may not be available on certain flights and/or at certain times, even though paid seats may be available.
  • All tickets presented at the check-in desk must comply with the upgrade rules. If they don’t, you may be asked to buy another ticket, pay the fare difference between the two tickets, or check in based on your fare class. 
  • You must pay the fare difference when upgrading an infant ticket. 
  • You must pay all applicable taxes and surcharges for any upgrade award.
