easyJet cancellation policy does not allow free cancellations in most cases because it is a low-cost carrier. All tickets can be cancelled and refunded for a fee within the free 24-hour window. Outside of this window, all tickets are non-refundable unless in case of severe illness or bereavement. If you’re not eligible to cancel your easyJet flight, changing your flight to travel later may be a better (and cheaper) option.

An Overview of easyJet Flight Cancellation Policy

easyJet cancellation policy is clear and transparent to ensure that passengers are well-informed and adequately compensated in case of unexpected cancellations, delays, and boarding denials. Understanding easyJet flight cancellation policy can help travelers navigate through flight disruptions with ease and minimize any inconvenience.

Below are the major highlights of easyJet cancellation policy, be it due to weather conditions or technical issues—or other factors within the airline’s control that may entitle you to certain rights and privileges, including compensation.

  • Outside of the 24-hour grace period, all fares are non-refundable. If you cancel your flight outside of this period, miss your flight, or do not take it, you will not be entitled to a refund other than airport taxes.
  • If you cancel your flight within 24 hours of booking (but no later than 2 hours before departure), you will receive a full refund minus a cancellation fee of £49 if you cancel online and £55 if you cancel through customer service.
  • Even if you’re cancelling within the 24-hour grace period, you must cancel no later than 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of your first flight
  • You can cancel your flight online or by phone through the customer services team. However, if you purchased your ticket through a travel agent, you must request them to cancel your ticket for you.
  • You’re allowed to cancel your ticket and obtain a refund (or a flight voucher valid for 6 months) due to serious or terminal illness, subject to a proper medical declaration, signed by a doctor (explained later).
  • You may be allowed to cancel and refund your ticket in case of bereavement, subject to the presentation of a Death Certificate and the fulfillment of certain conditions, as explained later.
  • If your flight has been delayed by 5 hours or more, you can speak to ground crew or call Customer Services to:
    • Change your flight to a later date, subject to seat availability, or
    • Cancel the delayed flight and apply for a full refund
