IndiGo Cancellation and Refund Policy

What is the IndiGo ticket cancellation and refund policy?

When cancelling an IndiGo ticket, the following rules will apply:

  1. Domestic flights can be cancelled up to 2 hours before departure.  International flights can be cancelled up to 4 hours before departure. After the deadline, the entire amount (except applicable taxes) will be forfeited. 
  2. You can cancel your flight booking:
    1. By phone to a call center for a fee of INR 250 per person per sector.
    2. Online through the View/Edit Booking option under Manage Bookings at no additional charges other than the applicable charges. 
  3. Refunds will be processed per the airline fare rules and cancellation policy. They will be made to the original form of payment, i.e., if you paid by credit/debit card/bank account/wallet, the refund will be made through the same channel. 
  4. Refunds typically take 7 business days and will be credited to your original form of payment. However, refunds of bookings made through American Express cards will be processed within 21 days from the date of request. 
  5. Refunds of bookings made by cash are processed through electronic fund transfers upon submission of a Refund Form at any IndiGo counter at the airport. 
  6. If you don’t receive a refund within the stipulated time frame, you should:
    1. Contact customer.relations@goindigo.in, or 
    2. Chat with an IndiGo agent through this link 
  7. If you booked from a third party, contact them directly for cancellations and refunds.
  8. Refunds will be made to the person whose name appears on the booking, the person who paid for the ticket, or the travel agent. Refunds to persons not named on the ticket will only be made upon the presentation of valid proof that the person is entitled to receive the refund. 

IndiGo Airlines 24-Hour Cancellation Policy 

You can cancel your domestic IndiGo flight booking without penalty if: 

  • You cancel within 24 hours of booking, and
  • You made the reservation at least one week (168 hours) before your flight’s departure

The IndiGo Airlines 24-hour cancellation policy applies to all tickets purchased for domestic sectors within India. 

Indigo COVID Policy 

If you’re travelling to India from another country, before boarding your flight you must submit a self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha portal. This is mandatory and failure to comply will result in denied boarding. 

If you’re flying out of India, you will need to download your International Travel Vaccination Certificate from the CoWin portal (select Show Certificate, click on International Travel Certificate, enter your details, submit your request, and download.

How to Cancel a Flight Ticket on IndiGo Airlines

  1. For tickets purchased directly from IndiGo Airlines (website, app, ticket counter, or call center), you can cancel by phone or online through Edit Booking
  2. For tickets purchased from a travel agent, contact them directly to cancel your flight booking.

Remember to cancel at least 2 hours before departure for a domestic flight, and at least 4 hours before departure for an international flight.

Inform the agent that you want to cancel your flight ticket. You will be asked to provide your PNR/booking reference number and name, or your mobile number. Before cancelling your ticket, the agent will inform you of any cancellation charges that apply to your situation. After your ticket has been cancelled, you will receive a notification on your registered mobile number/email address, and the amount will be refunded within the stipulated time.

What is the cancellation fee at IndiGo Airlines?

The cancellation fee charged by IndiGo Airlines will depend on your route (domestic or international), type of ticket (standard/Flexi Plus), and when you cancel (up to 3 days or at least 4 days before departure).

Domestic ticket cancellation charges. Unless you’re cancelling your ticket within 24 hours of booking for a ticket purchased at least 7 days before departure, IndiGo Airlines’ domestic flight ticket cancellation charges will depend on what type of ticket you’ve purchased and when you’re cancelling, as shown in the table below. Plus, if you’re cancelling through an IndiGo call center, you will be charged an additional fee of INR 250 per passenger per sector.

What to Do If IndiGo Airlines Changes Your Flight 

If there are any changes to your flight schedule, you will be notified by SMS if you have provided your cellphone number to IndiGo. You will also receive the revised flight itinerary at your registered email address. 

If your flight is delayed by 2 hours or more, or advanced by more than 1 hour, or if you miss a connecting flight on the same booking as a result of this, you are entitled to a full refund. Alternatively, you can choose to be rebooked on another flight to the same destination and the same type of fare at no additional charge (subject to seat availability). 

IndiGo Airlines Flight Rebooking Options 

You can change and rebook a domestic flight up to 2 hours before departure, and an international flight up to 4 hours before departure. However, the changes will be subject to any charges and fare differences that apply.

What is IndiGo Plan B?

IndiGo’s Plan B option allows you to change or cancel your flight and get a refund at no additional cost. Plan B is free of cost, and you are eligible to use it if your flight:

  • Has been cancelled
