A Brief Overview of Vueling Cancel Flight Policy

This section provides a brief overview of Vueling cancel flight policy and what you need to know if you find yourself in a situation where you want to cancel your flight. From refund options to rebooking possibilities, we’ll cover all the essential information so that you can navigate the cancellation process with ease.

  • The Vueling cancellation policy does not allow you to cancel your ticket in most cases, but some exceptions apply.
  • You can cancel your ticket in the following cases and receive a flight credit that you (or someone else) can use to travel later:
    • TimeFlex fares can be cancelled online or by phone up to 48 hours prior to departure.
    • Basic, Optima, and Family with the Flex Pack service can be cancelled online or by phone up to 48 hours prior to departure.
    • If you’re unable to fly due to high-risk pregnancy, illness, surgery, court summons, or polling service, you can cancel or change your ticket by contacting customer service
    • If you’ve purchased travel insurance that includes flight cancellation, you can file a claim to obtain a refund.
  • Vueling cancel flight option is only available if your ticket permits free cancellation, as indicated above.
  • You’re not allowed to cancel a multi-passenger booking for individual passengers—you must cancel for all the passengers in the booking.
  • Adding the Flex Pack service to Basic, Optima, and Family fares at the time of booking offers great flexibility by allowing you to cancel your flight or change the flight date.
  • If your flight is delayed by more than 5 hours, you are entitled to a full refund (through customer service) within 7 days. The refund will be on the price of your ticket or the flight segment you haven’t covered yet, or for the flight segment you have already covered if the journey is no longer useful, plus a return flight to the first point of departure if you’ve already taken your first flight and missed a connecting flight as a result of the delay. You may also be entitled to compensation (explained later) if the arrival time of your flight is delayed by 3 hours or more due to reasons within the airline’s control (and not extraordinary reasons like bad weather, etc.).
  • If Vueling cancels your flight or you’re denied boarding involuntarily, you can choose any of the following options:
    • Reimbursement under Article 7.3 of the EC Regulation 261 within 7 days for the full cost of your ticket at the purchase price for the flight segments not yet covered, and for the flight segments already covered if the flight no longer serves any purpose, along with (if relevant) a return flight to the first departure point on the next available flight.
      or
    • Take the next available flight under comparable conditions.
      or
    • Take a flight later when convenient (under comparable conditions), subject to seat availability.
      or
    • Request a refund through customer service.

Note. Depending on your route, you may additionally be entitled to compensation if your flight was cancelled due to reasons within Vueling’s control and not due to extraordinary circumstances over which it could not have any control, such as bad weather, airport strikes, riots, etc.

  • If you are unable to travel due to exceptional circumstances (below), you can ask for a change of travel date (subject to availability) or a refund as a flight credit/credit note with an 18-month validity from the date of issue of approval. However, you must contact Customer Service immediately by phone before your flight’s departure or online by filling out the Request refund for justified reasons form on the airline’s website, or by post.
    • Death of a passenger or a first- or second-degree relative (such as a spouse, civil partner, child, parent, sibling, grandchild, grandparent, or in-law) by submitting a valid death certificate and the equivalent of Spain’s Libro de Familia no later than 30 days after the departure date.
    • Severe illness or surgery of the passenger or a first-degree relative, such as a spouse, civil partner, child, parents, or in-law. However, you must provide a valid medical certificate stating the passenger’s/relative’s inability to travel due to illness or surgery, along with the equivalent of Spain’s Libro de Familia no later than 30 days from the date of departure.
    • Pregnancy of the passenger or a first-degree relation, such as a spouse, civil partner, child, parent, or in-law, subject to a proper medical certificate stating the inability of the passenger/relative to fly, along with the equivalent of Spain’s Libro de Familia within 30 days of departure.
    • Legal summons or public duties that cannot be avoided, provided you submit a copy of the summons or appropriate document within 30 days of departure.

Note. The above waivers are subject to approval. However, in case of death or legal summons, you or your relative can request a cash refund of your ticket, provided you file your claim within the 30-day deadline mentioned above. Claims made after the deadline will not be accepted, except in case of force majeure situations, but in all cases, you must inform Vueling by phone before your flight’s departure.

  • To cancel a ticket booked through a third-party website or travel agency, you must contact the website/agent directly.
