The Thai Airways cancellation policy allows you to cancel most tickets before departure for a fee, but partially used Economy Saver fares cannot be cancelled. If you don’t show up for your flight (No Show), you will be charged a No-Show fee in addition to your fare being forfeited.

The major highlights of the Thai Airways flight cancellation policy are as follows:

  • If you purchase a ticket at least 7 days before departure and it includes at least 1 flight to/from the United States, the Thai Airways cancellation policy allows you to cancel it without penalty if you notify the airline within 24 hours of booking.
  • You can book a ticket 7 days or more days before departure and hold it at the quoted price without payment or cancel it without penalty up to 24 hours after making the reservation.
  • If Thai Airways makes a significant change to your flight schedule within 14 days of departure, you have the option to:
    • Accept the changes, or
    • Accept alternative arrangements of equal or higher value, or
    • Accept alternative arrangements of lower value and receive the price difference between the original and alternative fares, or
    • Accept a full, penalty-free refund

Note: You must inform the airline of your choice within 3 days of being told about the significant change, or if your departure is less than 7 days, you must inform the airline as soon as reasonably practical (but no later than 3 days). If you don’t inform Thai Airways, it will be deemed that you have accepted the flight changes.

  • If Thai Airways cancels your flight, fails to operate it reasonably per schedule, fails to stop at your destination, or causes you to miss a connecting flight on which you have a confirmed booking, you exercise any of these options without paying additional charges:
    • Take the next available flight on Thai Airways, or
    • Extend the validity of your ticket and travel later, or
    • Take a flight to your destination later within a reasonable period of time on Thai Airways, another carrier, or a mutually agreed mode and class of transportation without additional charge (if the revised transportation charges are lower, the difference will be refunded), or
    • Ask for a full refund on the unused portion of your ticket
  • If you were involuntarily denied boarding due to overbooking or more passengers check in, you will be additionally entitled to compensation in most cases, regardless of your route.
  • The Thai Airways cancellation policy allows you to cancel and refund any ticket without penalty within the 24-hour grace period.
  • Tickets purchased through travel agents must be cancelled directly through the ticket-issuing agent.

  • I am still waiting for a refund of my Thai Airways cancelled business class flight of some 5 months ago from London to Bangkok. I am desperate for the £2300 I owed. Till now I have not received my refund due to which I am very angry at the airline and their service, so much time has passed, perhaps it should not have taken this much time to get a refund. I am still waiting for my money. I have also sent mails to the airline, there is no response, no matter how many times I call I am always told to wait for some time.

  • Sir, recently i purchased a ticket to visit Thailand on January 2, but I didn’t realise my passport had limited validity. I won’t be able to acquire a new passport so soon. How can I cancel my flight and get a compensation ?
