Cancelling a flight is never a pleasant task, especially when you’re not sure how much it will cost you to cancel your ticket. The Saudia ticket cancellation policy allows you to cancel your ticket with or without a fee, depending on your travel class, fare type, route, and when you cancel your ticket.
Below is an overview of Saudia Ticket Cancellation Policy:
- International Flights
If an international flight on which you hold a confirmed reservation is cancelled:- At least 14 days before departure, you can cancel your ticket (unused portion) and claim a full refund.
- 14 days to 24 hours before departure, you have the option to:
- Take the alternative flight offered to you by Saudia at no additional charge, incl. for hotel accommodation, meals, and transportation to/from the airport until the new travel date, or
- Cancel your ticket (unused portion) and ask for a full refund and claim compensation equivalent to 50% of the value of your unused ticket
- Domestic Flights
If a domestic flight within Saudi Arabia on which you hold a confirmed reservation is cancelled:- At least 7 days before departure, you can either take the alternative travel option provided to you by Saudia or cancel your ticket (unused portion) and ask for a full refund.
- 7 days to 24 hours before departure, you can:
- Take the alternative flight offered to you at no additional charge, incl. for hotel accommodation, meals, and transportation to/from the airport until the new travel date), or
- Cancel your ticket (unused portion) and ask for a full refund and claim compensation equivalent to 50% of the value of your unused ticket
- International and Domestic Flights
If an international or domestic flight on which you hold a confirmed reservation is cancelled from 24 – 4 hours before departure and Saudia is unable to provide an alternative flight to you within 6 hours of your original flight’s departure time, you will be refunded the full value of your unused ticket and compensated 100% of the value of your affected ticket/coupon. Plus, you will receive the required support care per regulations from Saudia. - Delayed Flights
If your flight is delayed:- By 6 hours or more, it will be treated as a cancelled flight and the above-mentioned flight cancellation rules will apply to you, plus will be provided care and support per regulations.
- By less than 6 hours, you will receive care and support per regulations, but you will not be compensated for the delay.
- (Rescheduled) within 14 days of your original flight’s departure and you were offered an alternative flight and informed about it, you can cancel the alternative flight offered to you without being charged a flight cancellation fee. However, you will not be entitled to any compensation for rejecting the alternative flight.
- Or advanced on the original departure date, you can cancel your flight (without being charged for it) and claim a full refund on the unused value of your ticket.
- Failure to Stop, Cause You to Miss a Connecting Flight, etc.
If due to reasons beyond its control Saudia is unable to stop at your departure/endpoint, causes you to miss a connecting flight on the same booking, or is unable to provide you with a seaton a confirmed reservation, you have the following options:- If you were denied boarding on a confirmed ticket due to the unavailability of alternative seats, you can:
- Take the next available flight offered to you in the same/higher class at no additional cost, or
- Be transported to the endpoint of your itinerary (or part of it, as the case applies) by the same or different airline carrier, or by ground transportation offered by Saudia at no additional charge to you, or
- Choose to travel on another Saudia flight or a flight by another airline carrier at Saudia’s cost, or
- Claim a full refund on the unused value of your ticket and claim compensation* equal to 100% of the value of your affected ticket.
- If you were denied boarding on a confirmed ticket due to the unavailability of alternative seats, you can:
*Exception. If you’re travelling from the United States to another country and are denied boarding:
- You will not be entitled to any boarding denial compensation if you’re offered an alternative flight that reaches your destination/stopover point within 1 hour of your original flight’s arrival time.
- Your boarding denial compensation will be 200% of the one-way fare (subject to a limit of USD 650) if the alternative flight offered to you reaches your destination/stopover point more than 1 hour but less than 4 hours later.
- Your boarding denial compensation will be 400% of the one-way fare (subject to a limit of USD 1,300) if you’re not offered any alternative transportation that is scheduled to arrive at your destination/stopover point less than 4 hours after your original flight’s arrival time.
Note
You will not be entitled to boarding denial compensation if:
- You fail to meet any of the conditions mentioned above.
- You’re provided alternative air transport within 6 hours of your original flight’s departure time.
- Force majeure conditions apply in your situation.
- If you’re a special needs passenger, you will be compensated 200% of the value of your ticket/coupon if Saudia fails to provide a suitable flight or is unable to provide the required services to you.
- Seat Downgrade
If your seat is downgraded on the same/alternative flight:- You will be refunded the price difference between the original and the downgraded seat offered to you, plus compensated 50% of the price difference between the two seats, or
- You will have the option to cancel your flight and ask for a full refund plus 100% of unused the ticket’s/coupon’s value.
Saudia 24-Hour Cancellation & Refund Policy
Does Saudi Arabian Airlines have a 24-hour cancellation policy?
Saudia has a 24-hour flight cancellation policy for flights to or from the United States. This policy allows you a full refund (without penalty) if you purchase your ticket directly from Saudia (website, call center, or sales office) at least 7 days before departure and cancel it within 24 hours. Saudia’s 24-hour cancellation and refund policy apply to all types of tickets, including non-refundable fares like Basic Economy/Saver fares.
Saudia Airlines Cancellation Policy Due to COVID-19
If you were unable to fly to due a suspected COVID-19 infection or if you were infected by it 2 weeks (14 days) before or after your travel date and have valid documentary evidence to prove this, you have the following options:
- Refund your ticket without being charged a flight cancellation fee.
- Reissue your ticket (only once) without penalty to the same destination, provided you pay the applicable fare difference.
- Revalidate your ticket (only once) without penalty, provided you do it to the same destination and within the same travel class.
- Change your itinerary (only once) to a different destination without penalty, provided you pay the fare difference if any.
Note. This travel waiver applies to all domestic flights and international flights that originate from Saudi Arabia.
Update for Alfursan Members
Due to the COVID-19 situation, Saudia has extended the tier miles validity for Alfursan Silver and Gold members till December 31, 2022. Plus, the validity of reward miles due to expire by December 31, 2021, has been extended till December 31, 2022. All other terms and conditions will remain unchanged.
Ticket Cancellation and Refund Process
How do I cancel my Saudi Arabian Airlines ticket and get a refund?
To avoid a no-show penalty, you must cancel your ticket before your flight’s departure. You can cancel your flight and apply for a refund in any of the following ways:
- By phone
- Through a Saudia Sales Office
- Through your travel agent
- Online via Saudia.com
(possible only if you booked your ticket directly through Saudia’s website/app, sales office, or call center)
Important
- When you cancel online, all refundable tickets in the booking are cancelled. To cancel and refund only one ticket, call 920022222.
If your flight is cancelled or you fall ill and are unable to catch your flight, call 920022222.
How to Cancel Your Ticket Online?
If you purchased your ticket directly from Saudia (website/app, sales office, or call center), you can cancel your ticket and apply for a refund as follows:
- Go to Saudia.com
- Click on the Manage Booking tab
- Retrieve your flight booking by entering:
- Your booking reference number
- Your last name
- Click on the Cancel and Refund button

- If you booked your ticket from a third party (website/travel agent), you can either contact the source directly or call Saudia to cancel your ticket.
- If you’re calling from outside of Saudia Arabia, you can either call a call center in your city/country.
- You can only refund tickets paid through VISA, MasterCard, cash, check, SPAN, or SADAD.

EMD Refund
How to refund an Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) online?
You can refund an EMD online by submitting your claim via this link. EMD refunds are subject to the following conditions:
- Compensation EMDs will be fully refunded to your bank account.
- Ancillary EMDs for involuntary cases will be fully refunded only through call centers.

- If you want to cancel a ticket booked but not issued through a Saudia sales office, call center, or website, you must cancel it by calling customer service number or a call center in your city/country.

Saudia Refund Policy
What is the Saudi Airlines refund policy?
- Tickets Refund and Compensation
- You will be refunded or compensated by cash, bank transfer, bank check, or EMD (as requested by you) within 10 working days from the date your request is accepted.
- If you receive an EMD for compensation, you can:
- Reissue your ticket without paying an additional fee.
- Receive it as cash, bank check, or bank transfer via the Saudia website, or sales office for cash payment methods—except tickets issued by commercial accounts or by government/royal orders.
- If you’re applying for a refund, you must have your personal Identification Document (personal or by legal authorization).
- Saudia will refund either to the person named on the ticket or the person who has paid for the ticket, subject to having the required documents.
- If your ticket was purchased by someone else and there are restrictions on refund, Saudia will refund the ticket either to you or to the other person under a formal letter of authorization.
- Saudia will refund the ticket only when you present the ticket number of the unused ticket or its receipt along with all the unused flight coupons (except in case of lost tickets).
- Saudia will not accept any liability for tickets refunded to a person who presents the ticket receipt and unused coupons per the conditions mentioned above.
- In case of involuntary refunds (if Saudia cancels a flight, fails to operate per schedule, cannot stop at a designated point, does not provide a reserved seat, or causes you to miss a connecting flight in the same booking) the refund amount will be:
- For unused tickets—equal to the price paid.
- For used tickets—either the GO fare (less the discount and fees applied) from the unscheduled breakpoint to the endpoint/next breakpoint or the difference between the paid fare and the fare used.
- In case of voluntary refunds (if you cancel your flight), the refund amount will be:
- For unused tickets—equal to the fare paid less the cancellation fees/applicable service charges.
- For used tickets—equal to the difference between the fare paid and fare used minus any cancellation and charges per regulations.
- In case of lost tickets, you must be able to provide adequate proof of the lost ticket and pay the applicable service fee, as long as:
- No part of the lost ticket has been used or already refunded.
- You (the person who received the ticket refund) commit to returning the refunded amount in case of fraud, the use of the lost ticket by any person, or the refund of the ticket to someone else who has the ticket.
- Passengers with Special Needs. If Saudia fails to provide a suitable flight or is unable to provide the necessary services, you will be 200% of the value of your affected ticket/coupon.
Note. Saudia may reject your refund request if you submit it after the expiration of your ticket.
- Ticket refunds are subject to government regulations of the country of ticket purchase. Refunds are typically made in the currency of purchase but are permitted in another currency according to Saudia’s regulations.
- Voluntary refunds will only be made by the carrier/authorized agent who issued the ticket.
