  • Unaccompanied Minors will be charged the full fare plus a UMNR handling fee. 
  • The Unaccompanied Minor’s parent or legal guardian must fill out, sign, and submit the following forms in advance:
  • Young Passengers (children aged 15 – 17 years) will be charged a UMNR handling fee on international flights (but not on domestic flights). The Young Passenger’s parent or legal guardian is must fill out, sign, and submit an indemnity form before traveling.
  • Conditions of acceptance 
    • The parent/legal guardian must book at least 24 hours before departure.
    • The Unaccompanied Minor will be accepted only on confirmed flights, incl. those involving other airlines. 
  • Restrictions
    • Unaccompanied minors will not be accepted on:
      • Flights involving overnight stopovers or connections.
      • Connecting flights involving a train or a bus
      • Connecting flights involving a change of airport. 
      • Connections exceeding 5 hours. 
    • If an unaccompanied minor is traveling with a parent or legal guardian who is booked in a different cabin, the full fee will be charged. 
  • Fares and Handling Fees 
    • Unaccompanied Minors will be charged the full adult fare plus a handling fee—child discounts and promo fares will not apply. However, the handling fee will not apply for domestic flights (EDL, MYD, LAU, KIS, MBA, and NBO). 
    • If traveling with another sibling, the Unaccompanied Minor fee will be charged for each sibling. 
  • Other Conditions 
    • If traveling in a group, the standard handling fee will apply if the unaccompanied minors are not accompanied by an adult. If they are accompanied by an adult, normal group conditions will apply.
    • Interline travels will be accepted on Kenya Airways’ partner airlines only if the reservation is confirmed by the partner airline. 
    • If the itinerary includes onward domestic flights on other airlines and the tickets were purchased on separate documents, the UMNR service will terminate at the international airport.
    • The UMNR fee does not apply to KOOLFLIERS on the Kenya Airways’ network or flights operated by Kenya Airways. 
    • Unaccompanied Minors:
      • Must be accompanied to the airport by a parent or legal adult guardian. 
      • Must be picked up by the authorized adult guardian at the arrival airport. 
    • The parent or adult legal guardian:
      • Must reach the airport check-in desk at the check-in time. 
      • Must stay at the airport till the flight departs.
