A view of IndiGo Airlines’ Flying Solo service for unaccompanied minors traveling alone
The IndiGo Airlines’ Unaccompanied Minor policy allows children between 5 – 12 years of age (regarded as minors) to travel alone after booking the Flying Solo Service. The service is optional for children between 13 – 18 years of age. However, children below 5 years of age are not allowed to travel alone—they must be accompanied by an adult passenger who is at least 18 years old.
The key highlights of IndiGo Airlines’ Unaccompanied Minor policy are explained below.
- Restrictions
Unless accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old, unaccompanied minors will not be accepted on:- Flights with night halts
- Flights involving transfers to other airlines
- Stopovers exceeding 6 hours
- Unaccompanied Minor Charges
Flying Solo Fees
The per-sector fee for Unaccompanied Minors is as follows:- On domestic flights: INR 2,000/AED 100/USD 32
- On international flights: INR 3,500/AED 70/USD 56
- At Departure Airport
- The parent or adult guardian who is at least 18 years old must bring the child to the airport’s check-in counter:
- At least 2 hours before departure for a domestic flight.
- At least 4 hours before departure for an international flight.
- The parent or adult guardian must fill out, sign, and present 4 copies of the Minor Form at the check-in counter. The Minor Form contains the contact details of the parent or adult guardian who will meet the unaccompanied minor at the destination airport.
- The parent or adult guardian must present a valid photo ID of the unaccompanied minor and himself/herself at the check-in counter.
- The child will be escorted to the aircraft by an IndiGo staff member.
- The child will be looked after by the cabin crew onboard the aircraft.
- The parent or adult guardian must remain at the airport until the flight takes off.
- The parent or adult guardian who is at least 18 years old must bring the child to the airport’s check-in counter:
- On Board
- Your child will be checked upon from time to time by the cabin crew.
- Meals/snacks are included in the Flying Solo program.
- Ask your child to wait for a flight attendant to escort him/her to the gate after arrival.
- Transit/transfer
- Connecting flights are permitted only in the following cases:
- The connecting flight must be on IndiGo only.
- The stopover time must not exceed 6 hours.
- Connecting flights are permitted only in the following cases:
- At the Arrival Airport
- Your child will be escorted from the aircraft and helped through the arrivals process.
- The designated adult guardian/parent must:
- Reach the airport’s arrival hall at least 30 minutes before the flight’s scheduled arrival time.
- Have their name, address, and cellphone number on the Minor Form.
- Present a valid photo ID.
- Receive your child at the gate.
Unaccompanied Minor Fee/Flying Solo Fee
The Unaccompanied Minor fee charged by IndiGo Airlines, in addition to the cost of the ticket, is as follows:
- On domestic flights INR 2,000//AED 100/USD 32 per sector, per minor.
- On international flights INR 3,500/AED 70/USD 56 per sector, per minor.
