EVA Air’s Unaccompanied Minors (UM) service is available to children between 5 and under 12 years of age who are traveling without a parent or an adult guardian who is at least 16 years old. Before travel, parents must inform EVA Air and fill out a UM Form, which includes the local contacts at the departure and destination points. 

The EVA Air Unaccompanied Minor policy does not allow children below 5 years of age to travel alone, unless they are accompanied by a responsible adult passenger who can look after them. 

EVA Air Unaccompanied Minor Policy

The EVA Air Unaccompanied Minors policy requires that:

  • Children between 5 and under 12 years of age cannot travel alone—they must either be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult guardian or book the Unaccompanied Minor service. 
  • Children above 12 years of age who have not attained majority status per the laws of the country of origin have the option to use the Unaccompanied Minors (UM) service on special request. 
  • The parent or guardian must:
    • Notify EVA Air at the time of reservation that they are booking a flight for an unaccompanied minor. 
    • Fill out an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) form, including the local contact details at the departure and arrival points.
  • For trips involving other airlines, contact them directly for their specific procedures. 
  • Conditions of Acceptance
    What are the rules for Unaccompanied Minors on EVA Air?
    • Children below 12 years of age traveling as Unaccompanied Minors will only be accepted under the following conditions:
      • They must be accompanied to the airport by a parent or a responsible adult. 
      • The parent or responsible adult must remain at the airport until the child boards the aircraft. 
      • The parent or responsible adult must provide evidence that the child will be received at the stopover or destination airport by another parent or responsible adult. 
      • The child’s flight is not likely to bypass or terminate before the destination due to weather conditions.  
      • The parent or responsible adult has made advance arrangements with the airline.  
      • The child must be at least 5 years old on the date of travel.
    • EVA Air will not accept more than 1 unaccompanied minor in Business Class between the age of 8 and 12.
    • Unaccompanied minors are not permitted to use the VIP lounges at San Francisco, London, and Amsterdam airports. 
    • For itineraries including a transfer or stopover exceeding 4 hours, the parent or guardian must make advance arrangements for an authorized person to meet, pick up, and stay with the child at the layover/stopover point u::naccompanied minors are required to travel on the applicable adult fare—or make up by paying the fare difference.     • Travel advisory for France.  Under-18 passengers currently living in France (regardless of nationality) and traveling alone or unaccompanied by a legal parent or guardian must carry an exit consent letter (AST).
      • The AST must be signed by the legal parents/guardians. 
      • A photocopy of the signing parent’s identity must be attached to the AST.
  • Unaccompanied minors will be provided meal coupons.
  • Children below 12 years of age traveling with a young flyer who is below 16 years old will be considered unaccompanied minors.

At the departure airport 

Check-in

  • The parent or adult guardian escorting the child to the airport:
    • Must carry a valid photo ID.
    • Must carry the Unaccompanied Minors (UM) Form (or fill it out at the check-in counter).
    • Have his/her name, address, and cellphone number documented on the unaccompanied minor’s reservation.
    • Must reach the airport well before the check-in deadline (indicated on the ticket).
    • Must proceed to the drop-off location at the airport with the child.
    • Wait at the airport until the child boards the flight. 
  • AN EVA Air staff member will escort the child to the aircraft.

Boarding

  • The child will be escorted to his/her seat by an EVA Air staff member. 

Connecting flights

  • Escorts are not provided for connecting flights. 
  • Passengers will be responsible for arranging the child’s transfer to the connecting flight. 

Arrival and pick-up

At the arrival airport, the person authorized to pick up the child must: 

  • Be at the airport before the flight lands.
  • Present a valid ID and take charge of the child at the gate.
