The change fees for all flights have been waived till December 31, 2021
The recently revised Aer Lingus flight change policy allows to change your flight for free on all routes and fare types until December 31, 2021—as often as you like. However, if your new fare is costlier, you must pay the fare difference based on the prevailing ticket price when you make the change.
Below is a snapshot of the revised Aer Lingus flight change policy—and how it affects you:
- If you booked your ticket online from AerLingus.com, you can make an Aer Lingus flight schedule change online through Manage Trip without being charged any change fee (up to December 31, 2021). This means you can:
- Change your Aer Lingus flight schedule
- Change the date of your flight
- Change the time of your flight
- Change the destination of your flight
- Upgrade your fare type
- If your itinerary includes partner airlines, or was made through Aer Lingus Reservations (i.e., by phone or through a ticket office), you must contact Aer Lingus to change your flight schedule.
- If you booked your ticket from a third party such as a travel agent/online agency, contact them directly to process your flight change.
- Flights changes are allowed only from the same country of origin.
- You must complete your travel no later than 1 year from the ticket’s original date of purchase.
- Travel extras purchased by you must be rebooked—they will not be transferred automatically to your booking.
- Pre-purchased meals and Upgrade Yourself products cannot be transferred or refunded if you voluntarily change your travel itinerary.
- You’re allowed to change your itinerary up to 2 hours before departure, otherwise the entire amount (except government tax) will be forfeited.
- Changes to flight schedules will be subject a fare difference.
- If your new fare is cheaper than the original fare, you will not be issued a refund or travel credit for the fare difference.
- If you cancel or do not use an individual flight segment on your ticket, it will be treated as a change and will incur a change fee plus fare difference (if any).
Aer Lingus Flight Change Fee by Route and Fare Type
As explained, the Aer Lingus flight change fees have been waived till December 31, 2021. This applies to all routes and fare types. After the change fee waiver is withdrawn, the Aer Lingus flight change fee will depend on your route and fare type, as shown below.
- Fight Change Fee for Saver and Plus Fares—Flights within Europe
The Aer Lingus flight change fee on flights within Europe for Saver and Plus fares is:
- USD 60/EUR 40/GBP 35 if you make the flight changes online.
- USD 80/EUR 50/GBP 40 if you make the flight changes through a Reservation Center.
The flight change fee for Saver and Smart fares on transatlantic flights is:
- USD 150/EUR 100/GBP 120 if you make the flight changes online.
- USD 150/EUR 100/GBP 120 if you make the flight changes through a Reservation Center.
Note
- Any difference in fare between the original and the new ticket will apply.
- Change fees and fare difference cannot be refunded.
- Flight changes can be made up to 2 hours before departure.
- Flight changes are permitted from the same country of origin.
- Flights between UK/Continental Europe—USA that include a connecting flight in Ireland will incur a mix of the flight change fees mentioned above as they include both a short- and a long-haul flight.
- All types of flight changes, including upgrades, will incur and change fee and the applicable fare difference.
- Fight Change Fee for Advantage Fares—Flights within Europe
If you’re making flight changes to an Advantage fare, the following conditions will apply:
- You won’t be charged a flight change fee.
- Only the difference in fare between the original and the new ticket will apply.
- If the new ticket is cheaper, the fare difference will not be refunded.
- Flight changes can be made up to 2 hours before departure—or up to the departure if you’re at the airport.
- Flight changes are permitted from the same country of origin.
- Missed departure fee will be waived if you’re making any changes at the airport on the day of your flight’s departure.
- Fight Change Fee for AerSpace Fares—Flights within Europe
Changes to AerSpace fares will be subject to the following conditions:
- You won’t be charged a flight change fee.
- Only the difference in fare between the original and the new ticket will apply.
- If the new ticket is cheaper, the fare difference will not be refunded.
- Flight changes can be made up to 2 hours before departure—or up to the departure if you’re at the airport.
- Flight changes are permitted from the same country of origin.
- Missed departure fee will be waived if you’re making any changes at the airport on the day of your flight’s departure.
- Fight Change Fee for Saver and Smart Fares—Transatlantic Flights
If you’re making changes to a Saver or Smart fare on a transatlantic flight, you will be charged the following flight change fees:
- USD 150/EUR 100/GBP 120 if you make the flight change online.
- USD 150/EUR 100/GBP 120 if you make the flight change through a Reservation Center.

- Any difference in fare between the original and the new ticket will apply.

- Fight Change Fee for Business Fares—Transatlantic Flights
Changes made to Business fares on transatlantic flights are subject to the following conditions:
- You won’t be charged a flight change fee.
- You must pay the fare difference between the original ticket and the new ticket.
- Both change fees and fare difference cannot be refunded.
- Flight changes can be made up to 2 hours before departure.
- Flight changes are permitted from the same country of origin.
- Flights between UK/Continental Europe—USA that include a connecting flight in Ireland will incur a mix of the flight change fees mentioned as they include both a short- and a long-haul flight.
- Fight Change Fee for Business Flex Fares—Transatlantic Flights
Changes made to Business Flex fares on transatlantic flights are subject to the following conditions:
- Flight changes are permitted subject to availability.
- You won’t be charged a flight change fee.
- Flight changes can be made up to 2 hours before departure, or at the airport up to the time of departure.
- Flight changes are permitted from the same country of origin.
Aer Lingus Flight Rebooking Options
Zero change fees till December 31, 2021
Regardless of your fare type, you’re allowed to change your flight without being charged a change fee until December 31, 2021—as often you need, and on any route you want.
Options Available till December 31, 2021
Till the December 31, 2021, travel waiver is in force, you have the following 3 options:
- Make free, unlimited changes to your flight
You can change your flight on any route up to 2 hours before departure—as many times as you like. You won’t have to pay any flight change fee. A fare difference, if any, will apply. - Apply for a refund voucher if you’re not sure when you’ll travel
If you’re not sure when you want to travel, apply for a refund voucher.- You can use the voucher to book a new ticket, buy bags, select a seat, or purchase lounge access.
- Only the following fares can be converted into vouchers: Plus, Smart, Advantage, Flex, Business and Business Flex.
- You must apply for a voucher at least 14 days before your flight’s departure.
- You will receive your voucher within 30 days.
- Apply for a cash refund if you don’t want to travel
If you don’t want to travel, you can apply for a cash refund on the following fares:- Advantage, Flex, Business and Business Flex.
Note. All flight schedule changes are subject to the following conditions:
- If your new ticket is costlier, you must pay the fare difference.
- If your new fare is cheaper, the fare difference will not be refunded.
How to Change Flights on Aer Lingus
You can change flights on Aer Lingus:
- By Phone
You can make changes to your flight by calling your local Aer Lingus office, or the travel agent you booked your ticket through. - Online
How to Change Flights on Aer Lingus Online
If you booked directly through Aer Lingus (website, mobile app, ticket counter, or call center), you can change your travel date, time, and/or destination online through Manage Trip as explained below.

- Go to AerLingus.com
- Click on Manage Trip
- Enter your booking reference and family name
- Hit the Manage Trip button
- Follow the prompts to change your flight
Since the Aer Lingus flight change fee stands waived till December 31, 2021, you can change your flight booking as many times as you need until then.
Note
- You can also make changes to your flight booking with the mobile app.
- If you booked your ticket from a third party, you will need to contact them directly.
- If you purchased travel extras directly from Aer Lingus, you will need to rebook them because they will not be automatically transferred to your new booking.
- Any changes made will be subject to the applicable fare difference.
- If your new fare is cheaper than the original fare, the fare difference will not be refunded, nor will you receive any travel credit for it.
- If you cancel or do not use an individual flight segment on your ticket, it will be treated as a change and may be subject to a change fee.
- You can change a booking from the same country of origin.
- If you change a flight booking, you must complete the travel within one year of the date of purchase of the original ticket.
- If you change your flight booking voluntarily, the following add-ons cannot be transferred or refunded:
- Pre-purchased meal
- Upgrade Yourself products
How to Change Flights on Aer Lingus by Phone
To change an Aer Lingus flight by phone:
- Call the Aer Lingus change flight contact number.
- Follow the voice commands to connect to a travel expert.
- Explain your requirements.
- Provide the following information:
- Your booking reference number and family name to retrieve your flight booking.
- Your new travel requirements—such as preferred dates, flight time, etc.
- Any other preferences you might have.
- Choose an option that suits you most.
- Pay the change flight fee and service fee.
You will receive a confirmation email along with your e-ticket on your registered email ID.
