ANA Flight Change Policy & Fee

ANA Flight Change

The All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight change policy allows you to make changes to your flight tickets if your flight falls under a COVID-19 travel waiver (applicable till October 31, 2022), or the fare rules of your ticket permit flight changes. Some tickets cannot be changed, while others attract a handling fee.

You’re allowed to change your ANA flight date and/or time for free if:

  • Your travel date is on or before October 31, 2022
(you can make unlimited changes to your flight but you must pay the fare difference).
  • Your flight to/from the U.S.A., Canada, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil:
    • Is delayed by more than 31 minutes, or
    • Departs earlier by more than 16 minutes
  • Your flight is cancelled and the alternative flight offered to you does not suit you.
  • The fare rules of your ticket allow you to change your flight (with or without a fee).
  • You or the passenger accompanying you falls ill or gets injured and this prevents you from catching your flight, as long as you produce a valid medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner.
  • Your co-passenger or an immediate family member dies, subject to your submitting a death certificate.

Note

  • You can change your flight route as long as you pay the applicable difference in fares, taxes, etc.
  • The no change fee policy will no longer apply from November 1, 2022.

  2. Online if you purchased your ticket online from ANA’s website
  3. Through the travel agent you purchased your ticket from

ANA Flight Change Policy for Involuntary Changes Due to Reasons Beyond ANA’s Control

Involuntary schedule changes refer to flight changes made by ANA for reasons beyond its control—such as bad weather, traffic situations, etc.—or reasons within its control—such as maintenance issues, equipment malfunction, etc.

Involuntary schedule changes for the United States, Canada, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil also include:

  • A flight delay of more than 31 minutes
  • An earlier flight departure by more than 16 minutes
  • A change of another airline’s flight due to cancellation, delay, or some other reason beyond the passenger’s control

If your flight has been subjected to an involuntary schedule change for any of the reasons mentioned above, you have 2 options:

  1. Get rebooked on the next available ANA Group flight at no additional cost. ANA Group flights include ANA and Air Japan-operated flights on international routes, flights operated by ANA, ANA Wings, and codeshare-operated flights by IBEX Airlines, AIR DO, Solaseed Air, Air Oriental Air Bridge, and Star Flyer on domestic routes within Japan.
  2. Cancel your flight and receive a refund

ANA Flight Change Policy Due to Voluntary Changes

Voluntary changes refer to flight changes made by a passenger and not the airline.

  • If the fare conditions of your ticket permit flight changes, you can change your flight date and/or time either free of charge or for a fee, depending on your ticket’s fare rules.
  • If the fare rules of your ticket do not permit flight changes, you cannot make changes to your flight.

If you have any questions or need assistance, call your local ANA office. A travel expert will verify your ticket details and inform you whether any handling fee and fare or tax differences will apply.

If you have purchased your ticket:

  • Directly from ANA’s website, you can make changes to your flight online via the website.
  • From a travel agent, contact the travel agent to process your request.
  • Through ANA’s sales office/call center, you must call ANA to process your request.

If you’re making a route change to your ticket, or when a flight change requires an amount adjustment (increase/decrease), you’ll be charged a handling fee, known as Exchange/Reissue Service Charge (ESC). These fees will be charged in addition to the difference in fares and taxes, if any.

Frequently Asked Questions on ANA Flight Change Policy

Can I change my flight due to coronavirus?

If your ticket number starts with 205 and your flight was affected by COVID-19, you’re allowed to change your flight or ask for a refund. Eligible tickets include tickets purchased from ANA that fulfill the following conditions:

1- Your itinerary includes a flight to/from/via an airport in Japan
2- Your ticket was issued by June 10
3- Your travel date is between February 26, and October 31

If your ticket was issued by another airline or a travel agent, you must contact the airline or travel agency directly.

You can request a change of flight due to bad weather only after ANA cancels your flight, and not before. Alternatively, ANA will inform you of your flight’s status by email and/or phone (via SMS) registered by you at the time of booking.

Will I be reimbursed for any expenses I incur if my flight is cancelled or delayed due to reasons within ANA’s control?

Yes, if your flight is delayed or cancelled due to reasons within ANA’s control, such as equipment problems, etc., ANA will reimburse you for ground transportation and hotel accommodation within reasonable limits. For more information or assistance, call or your local ANA office.

Will I have to pay for a seat reservation due to a change of aircraft if wasn’t charged for it initially?

No, you will not be charged for seat reservation since the change of seat was carried out by ANA.

Can I change the travel date for domestic ANA Flight Awards?

You can change the travel date for a domestic ANA Flight Award ticket:

1- Up to 24 hours before your new flight’s departure date, and
2- Before your original flight’s departure time

However, you are not allowed to:

1- Change to a flight that departs earlier on the same sector after arriving at the airport on the day of travel.
2- Change your ticket to a Blackout Date.

If your date change impacts an award ticket’s seasonality, ANA will adjust your mileage per rules.
