• You can make unlimited changes without paying a change flight fee to:
  • All Virgin Atlantic flights and Package Holidays booked through Virgin Holidays between February 16, 2022, and June 23, 2022, for travel up to August 31, 2022, as long as: 

• Your new travel date is by December 31, 2023, and 
• You make the change before your original departure date
  (at least 4 weeks in advance in case of a Package Holiday with Virgin Holidays) 

The penalty-free flight change can include a change of date and/or destination (but you must pay the fare difference) or a one-time name change if you want to transfer your ticket to someone else (applicable only to fully-unused tickets). 

• All flight bookings between March 3, 2021, and February 15, 2022, subject to the same conditions as above. 
• All flight bookings between February 6, 2021, and March 2, 2021, subject to the same conditions as above. 

• Virgin Atlantic change flight fee for tickets issued on or after June 24, 2022, will depend on your fare type and route. For cash tickets from the United States, the change fee typically ranges from USD 275 – 300 for Economy/Premium and USD 450 – 500 for Upper Class. 
• If you’re unable to travel because you (your travel companion or an immediate family member) fall ill or in case of death, you must provide valid documentary proof, such as a medical certificate or death certificate. In such a scenario, Virgin Atlantic will:
  • Re-route you to your final destination/ next stopover at no extra cost to you, or
  • Book you on another available flight at no extra charge, or
  • Extend your ticket’s validity if you’ve already started your journey, or
  • Provide a full refund 
• If Virgin changes your flight schedule (such as canceling, diverting, or delaying your flight by at least 5 hours), you will be informed in advance and provided with the option to travel on another flight or request a full refund. If your flight is rescheduled due to operational reasons and not extraordinary circumstances beyond the airline’s control, you may be eligible for special rights under EC261 (incl. compensation).
• You will not be required to pay any penalty for your onward or return flight if you’re unable to travel per the agreed flight sequence due to an event beyond your control or a legitimate change in circumstances. However, to avail of this benefit, you must:
  • Notify Virgin Atlantic before your flight’s departure date, and 
  • Provide adequate documentary proof to the airline’s satisfaction, and
  • Pay the difference in fares if you’re changing your flight date or destination 
• If you purchased your ticket from a third-party website or a travel agent, you must contact them directly to request a change of time, date, and/or destination.

What are Virgin Atlantic change fees for cash and award tickets?

Change fee for cash tickets. Virgin Atlantic change fees for cash tickets will be mentioned in the fare conditions section at the time of booking as well as on the ticket (but not publicized). Based on a few searches, the change fees for flights from the United States are:  

• USD 275 – 300 for Economy/Premium.
• USD 450 – 500 for Upper Class. 

Exclusion/Waivers for Cash Tickets

• The change fee for lap infants is 10% of the above change fees.
• If you’re unable to travel due to a Force Majeure situation, you will receive a travel credit toward future travel, subject to an administrative fee of USD 38/£30 and the presentation of documentary evidence.

Change fee for award tickets. The change fee for award tickets on Virgin Atlantic is:

• £30 (approx. USD 41) for international flights originating in the U.K.
• USD 50 for international flights originating in the U.S.
• The equivalent of USD 50 for international flights originating in any other country/region.

Exclusions/Waivers for Award Tickets. If you booked an award ticket on/after December 23, 2021, for travel by December 31, 2022, you can make unlimited date changes as long as you complete your travel by December 31, 2023.

How to Change a Flight on Virgin Atlantic?

You can change your flight on Virgin Atlantic online, by phone, through a sales office/authorized agent, or at the airport counter.
