Traveling with Special Requirements

Book special assistance at least 24 hours before departure 

If you need any special assistance at the airport, while boarding or disembarking the aircraft, or on the aircraft, you should book it at least 24 hours before your flight’s scheduled departure time.

Tips for Passengers Requiring Special Assistance on Copa Airlines

• Passengers requiring vision assistance

• Inform a ticket counter agent that you need help to reach the gate or check-in. 
• Ask for arm assistance or a wheelchair when booking or at the airport (if required). 
• Flight safety cards are available in Braille. 
• Passengers requiring hearing assistance

• Unaccompanied minors
  • The Unaccompanied Minor service is mandatory for children aged 5–14 traveling alone. 
  • For children between 15–17, the service is optional. 
  • All travel documentation must be in order.
  • Request the service at least 48 hours before departure by contacting Copa Airlines Reservation Center or Sales Office.
  • For details, refer to the page titled Copa Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Policy.
• Passengers traveling with pets
  • Only small dogs and cats are permitted.
  • Pets can travel on international flights only from Mondays through Fridays. 
  • Each pet container can hold only 1 pet. 
  • Only 1 pet is allowed per passenger. 
  • Children below 11 are not permitted to fly with pets.
  • For other conditions, refer to the section titled Copa Airlines Pet Policy.
• Pregnant passengers
  • Women below 30 weeks of pregnancy can fly without medical approval. 
  • If traveling after 30 weeks of pregnancy, must sign a Liability Waiver Form that exonerates the carrier from any setbacks relating to their condition.
  • Must furnish a doctor’s written approval at check-in that authorizes the passenger to travel, also mentioning the current week of pregnancy.
  • On all flights within Panama, if the flight takes place 7 days before the due date, a doctor’s certificate must be issued within 72 hours before travel, stating that the passenger is physically fit to travel and the likely delivery date is after the last travel date. 
  • On all flights departing from Colombia, pregnant passengers in the 7^th month of pregnancy or after must carry a medical certificate issued within 12 hours before travel.
• Passengers traveling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs), respirators, CPAP machines, etc.
  • Such devices can be carried free of charge. 
  • Only devices displaying the manufacturer’s label per FAA requirements are allowed. 
  • Your device must be within the weight and size limits of a carry-on bag so that it fits under your front seat or in the overhead bin. If not, it must be transported as checked baggage.
  • Your POC’s batteries must be fully charged if you intend to use it during travel.
  • Extra batteries must be properly packed to prevent short circuiting.
  • Per FAA rules, personal oxygen units cannot be used during the flight as they contain liquid oxygen or compressed gas, both of which are considered hazardous materials.

How to Check Your Copa Airlines Flight Status
