General Tips
- After reaching the airport, ask the ground staff for help with pre-boarding and check-in.
- Passengers must travel with a travel companion if they have a severe mental or physical disability, they are blind-cum-deaf, or they are unable understand and/or apply safety instructions or communicate with the crew, or evacuate themselves independently in case of an emergency.
- Passengers with a medical condition who require Wheelchair Service at the airport or inside the aircraft must receive Travel Clearance by submitting a Medical Information Form (MEDIF) (filled out by an attending physician) at least 5-7 days before their flight’s departure to the Philippines Airlines Reservations office or a PAL Ticket Office.

Specific Tips
- Pregnant Passengers
- Pregnant passengers without pregnancy complications don’t require medical clearance before traveling but must fill out the Expectant Mothers Information Sheet (EMIS) and submit it to a PAL Ticket Office.
- Pregnant passengers are allowed to travel up to 35 weeks of pregnancy, subject to the following conditions:
- Fill out and submit part 1 of the EMIS properly.
- Passengers traveling between 24-32 weeks of pregnancy must have their physician fill out Part 2 of the EMIS Form. If the passenger is less than 21 years old, she must have the written consent of her husband, parent, or guardian.
- Passengers traveling after 32 weeks of pregnancy must obtain a Travel Clearance from a Philippine Airlines flight surgeon or company physician via Part 3 of the EMIS Form.
- The passenger must fill out the EMIS Form for each flight she takes.
- The EMIS Form is valid for 7 days unless otherwise indicated by the attending physician or flight surgeon.
- Passengers with Nut Allergy
- Must inform PAL at least 48 hours before their flight’s departure, failing which they may be denied boarding for their own safety. Call or the local office in your country.
- Passengers who do not inform at least 48 hours in advance cannot be guaranteed nut-free meals.
- Passengers with a nut allergy are allowed to carry their own meals.
- Should carry their own medication.
- PAL cannot guarantee a nut-free flight or a nut-free environment.

- Passengers traveling with infants
- Infants between 16 days to 24 months of age are allowed to travel as lap infants, i.e., on the parent’s/guardian’s lap.
- Parents or guardians travelling without an approved CRS (child restraint system) must hold the infant on their laps before and during takeoff, landing, and turbulence, as well as when the seatbelt sign is on.
- Infants using approved child restraint systems or car seats must be seated next to the parent or legal guardian accompanying them.
- Booster seats are not permitted.
- The car/CRS seat must meet the following conditions:
- If the CRS is forward facing, it must be approved by an ICAO-member state, such as CASA, EASA, FAA, etc.
- If the CRS is aft facing, which is generally meant for occupants who cannot walk without assistance, and weighs less than 22lb/10kg, it must be approved by an ICAO-member state, such as CASA, EASA, FAA, etc.
- Car seats must comply with safety standards of the ICAO State that approves them for aircraft use, and must bear the following 2 labels:
- This child restraint system conforms to all applicable state motor vehicle safety standards, and
- This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft in red.
- The infant’s/child’s weight and height must be within the specified range of the CRS or car seat manufacturer.
- The CRS or car seat must fit in the aircraft seat per the dimensions given below:

- Unaccompanied Minors (UM)
- Children between 8 – 11 years of age are allowed to travel alone as Unaccompanied Minors—both on PAL flights and PAL Express domestic flights.
- Unaccompanied Minors will be charged the full fare plus a service fee.
- The Unaccompanied Minor’s parent or adult guardian must complete and submit the Unaccompanied Minor (UM) handling advice form before the travel date.

- Passengers requiring disability seating or assistance
- Select your preferred seat at least 24 hours before departure by calling the Reservations Hotline or a PAL Ticket Office in your area, and informing the agent of your seating requirements.
- The following passengers are entitled to special seating accommodations:
- Passengers requiring aisle chairs to board the aircraft because they cannot transfer over fixed armrests.
- Passengers with highly limited or no mobility inside the cabin.
- Passengers traveling with service animals.
- Passengers traveling with a personal companion who need assistance throughout the flight. The personal companion will be assigned an adjacent seat.
- Passenger with intellectual or developmental or disabilities.
- Blind or vision-impaired passengers.
- Deaf or hearing-impaired passengers.
- Passenger with an immobilized or fused leg.
- Filipino residents with a disability are entitled to a 20% PWD discount on regular fares plus VAT exemption on domestic bookings made through PAL’s website, mobile app, ticket offices, Reservations Hotline, and accredited travel agencies.

- Passengers with a medical condition requiring wheelchair service at the airport and inside the cabin must submit a Medical Information Form (MEDIF). The form must be filled out by the attending physician and submitted for Travel Clearance at least 5-7 days before travel to the PAL Reservations or Ticket Office.
- Wheelchairs powered by spillable batteries fall in the dangerous goods category and are accepted only under specific conditions. They may be subject to additional restrictions in some countries.
- Aircraft boarding assistance
- If you have a problem climbing stairs, you can use the passenger lifts to board the aircraft. This service is currently available in Davao, Cebu, and NAIA Terminal 2.
- You must request such assistance at least 72 hours before your flight and you may be asked to fill submit a Medical Information Form (MEDIF).
- Passengers requiring special meals
- The service is available on international flights.
- You must request your special or pre-cut meal at the time of upon booking or at least 48 hours before your flight’s departure.

- Passengers with sight and hearing impairments are allowed to travel with a guide dog free of charge in the passenger cabin, and will not be charged a Choice of Economy Seat Surcharge (CESS).

- Passengers requiring portable oxygen concentrators (POCs)
- Passengers can bring and use their own portable oxygen concentrator (POC), ventilator, respirator, and continuous positive airways pressure (CPAP) machines, subject to the following conditions:
- Must notify PAL Reservations at least 48-hours before the flight.
- Must check in at least 1 hour before the standard check-in time.
- Must present a signed copy of the Medical Information Form (MEDIF) by the PAL physician certifying the passenger fit for travel.
- If traveling with a POC, the model must be mentioned in the MEDIF.
- Passengers traveling with CPAP machines who do not have chronic medical conditions such as diabetes or hypertension but only sleep apnea will be required to furnish only a medical certificate.
- The devices must be capable of being stowed under the seat or in the overhead bin per safety and security regulations.
- The devices used onboard must be FAA-approved (see here).
- Since in-seat power is not guaranteed, passengers must carry enough batteries to power their device for the entire journey plus 3 hours.
- Passengers are allowed to bring up to 20 spare batteries of the following type:
- Non-rechargeable lithium metal batteries with the metal content not exceeding 2 grams per battery.
- Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with a watt-hour rating not exceeding 100Wh per battery.
- Passengers are allowed to bring only 2 spare batteries of the following type:
- Non-rechargeable lithium metal batteries with the metal content exceeding 2 grams but not exceeding 8 grams per battery.
- Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with a watt-hour rating between 100Wh and 160Wh per battery.
- Spare lithium metal batteries exceeding 8 grams and lithium-ion batteries exceeding 160Wh are not permitted in the cabin.
- If carried on board, spare lithium batteries must be protected from short-circuits either by retaining them in their retail packaging, taping over the exposed terminals, or placing each battery in a separate plastic bag.
- Passengers who want to connect their devices to the aircraft’s power outlets must inform PAL Reservations at least 48 hours before their flight’s departure. A few aircraft have 115-volt AC power supplies (60Hz) via universal outlets.

Is my Choice Seat guaranteed?
When you purchase a Choice Seat in advance, you are assured of your preferred seating. However, the seat may be reassigned due to safety, operational, or security reasons. Efforts will be made to ensure that the reassigned seat is of the same value, otherwise, the payment will be refunded to you.
