Garuda Indonesia (GA) is Indonesia’s flag carrier, headquartered at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport. Its majority shareholding lies with the government of Indonesia (50.3%). Indonesia’s second-largest airline carrier (after Lion Air) operates out of main hubs at Jakarta–Soekarno-Hatta, Medan, Makassar, and Denpasar/Bali, and secondary hubs at Balikpapan and Surabaya.

Garuda Indonesia has a fleet size of 142 aircraft, at an average age of 6.62 years. A Garuda Indonesia reservation can take you to 90 destinations across Europe, Asia, and Australia

Garuda Indonesia offers 3 travel classes—First Class, Business Class, and Economy Class

In the 1990s, the airline was at its peak and operated across the world, including the United States, Europe, Australia, Egypt, and South Africa. But due to financial problems in the late 1990s and early 2000s (1996 – 2004), its market share shrunk dramatically. Thereafter, the airline successfully modernized itself with its Quantum Leap initiative by focusing majorly on international markets. This led to it earning several awards, such as The Most Improved Airline, the World’s Best Cabin Crew, and 5-Star Airline by Skytrax.
