EVA Airways Corporation, better known as EVA Air (BR), is a Taiwanese airline company. It is Taiwan’s second-largest airline (after China Airlines) and is based out of Taoyuan City (near Taipei), with a major hub at Taoyuan International Airport.

EVA Air Booking—Points to Remember 

You can make an Eva Air booking from 360 days to 3-7 hours before departure, depending on your flight route. Once you complete your booking, you will be issued reservation reference number along with a ticket number.

Eva Air Booking with Credit Card 

If you’re purchasing your ticket with a credit card (online or by phone), the following conditions will apply:

  • You (the cardholder) can pay for up to 9 passengers (excluding infants) if you are one of the passengers.  
  • Your booking must contain at least 1 adult (> 16 years old). 
  • Each adult can bring 1 lap infant who is below 2 years and does not occupy a seat and up to 3 children.
  • You must contact EVA Air if:
    • You’re booking only a child or an infant ticket.
    • Your booking is wait-listed. 
    • Your itinerary has open dates.
  • You’ll be required to present the credit card with which you purchased your e-ticket at check in.

When Checking In. You’ll be required to present your e-ticket receipt at the airport, or provide any one of these when checking in:

  • Your e-ticket number 
  • Your name as it appears on the ticket
  • Your Infinity MileageLands card number
  • Your flight number and travel date 

Ticket Payments

  • Use a credit card with your name and card number appearing on it, because you will be required to show the credit card with which you purchased your ticket at the check-in counter. 
  • You must enter your name (first and last) exactly as it appears on your credit card or you may be denied boarding (unless you’ve purchased a full-fare ticket at the airport counter).  
  • 3DS is now a mandatory requirement for any online purchase made through EVA’s website, or mobile app via JCB J/Secure, American Express SafeKey, MasterCard ID Check, or VISA SECURE. Before making an online transaction and to prevent transaction failure, ask your bank for information about 3DS payment. 
  • If the credit card holder (who paid for the ticket) is not travelling, that person must his/her credit card to EVA Air and sign an indemnity form in any of the following ways:
    1. At least 48 hours before departure and during business hours:

      • Visit the EVA Air airport counter with the credit card. 
      • Sign an Indemnity of Payment form.
  • Exceptions 

You will not be required to present your credit card at check-in (or be one of the passengers) if your credit card transaction has been authorized through JCB J/Secure, American Express SafeKey, MasterCard ID Check, or VISA SECURE. You will, however, be required to show your credit card at the airport if you had entered the credit card’s 3- or 4-digit verification code. 

  • You may be required to pay additional travel charges/taxes at the arrival or departure airports. 

EVA Air Keep Your Fare Option 

EVA Air’s Keep Your Fare option allows you to hold a fare booking you like for up to 72 hours (and some fares for less than 72 hours). The 72-hour holding time will end as soon as you book your ticket or after 72 hours, whichever is earlier. 

How to book Keep Your Fare

  1. Go to EvaAir.com 
  2. Select your travel date and destination 
  3. Choose the Keep Your Fare fee on the payment page 
  4. Select and confirm the deadline date
  5. After you confirm your booking, your booking reference code will be sent to you
  6. Confirm and pay for your flight booking within 72 hours or your Keep Your Fare deadline (whichever is earlier) through Manage Your Trip 

Exceptions. You will not be able to book with Keep Your Fare if:

  • Your flight departs within 7 days.
  • Your flight is not operated by EVA Air.
  • Your flight does not have a BR flight number.
  • You’re booking Happy Hours, certain types of promo fares, or you’re booking through the Corporate Internet Booking System.
  • You want to use Miles & Cash.

Keep Your Fare Conditions 

  • You’re not allowed to make any changes during the holding time. If you want to make any changes to your booking, you’ll have to cancel your booking or let it expire. 
  • You’re allowed to make changes after paying and receiving your ticket. 
  • All the changes, i.e. cancel and refund, will then follow the fare rule of your ticket.
  • Even if the fares change, your on-hold booking will remain unaffected. 
  • The fee for Keep Your Fare is in addition to the ticket price and cannot be refunded. 
  • The Keep Your Fare service cannot be booked with Miles & Cash.
  • If you do not pay within the deadline, your Keep Your Fare booking will be cancelled. 
  • If your flight is changed or cancelled, you must contact EVA Air to cancel and refund your on-hold booking. 
  • If you’ve reserved multiple tickets in a single on-hold booking, you must pay for all passengers at the same time.

Always book your special assistance in advance as indicated above—or you may have to wait at the airport to receive it. 

General Tips 

  • Contact the ground staff for assistance with pre-boarding and check-in procedures. If traveling from Taoyuan International Airport, go to counter no.19 for assistance.
  • Passengers with the following disabilities and mobility-related problems may be required to travel with a travel companion for safety reasons:
  • Passengers with severe mental disabilities that prevent them from understanding and applying safety instructions.
  • Blind and deaf passengers who are unable to communicate with the crew. 
  • Passengers with a motor-based disability that could prevent them from evacuating.
  • Most paraplegics. 
  • Passengers may need to present a Medical Information sheet (MEDIF) filled out by their attending physician under certain medical conditions or circumstances (explained in the sub-section below).
  • Passengers must reach the airport by the recommended arrival time so that they can receive the assistance they need without having to rush.
  • Passengers with reduced mobility can carry their mobility devices free of cost, subject to limitations (see below). 

Specific Tips for Passengers Requiring Special Assistance on EVA Air

  • Passengers requiring mobility assistance 
  • If you require wheelchair assistance at the airport:
    • Inform EVA Air in advance if you didn’t at the time of booking by calling or your local EVA Reservations Office.
    • Most airports are equipped to provide boarding and off-boarding assistance.
    • You can avail of the service free of charge.
  • If you’re traveling with your own wheelchair:
    • You can carry your wheelchair free of charge in the cabin or check it in at the counter or departure gate. 
    • Both motorized and manual wheelchairs are accepted. 
    • Provide the following information to EVA Air in advance:
      • Type of mobility device or wheelchair, i.e., folding or non-folding 
      • Total dimensions (length, width, and height) and weight 
      • Number of installed batteries 
      • Type of battery used
        • Dry battery
        • Spillable battery (wet)
        • Non-spillable wet battery
        • Lithium battery (with watt-hour rating)
    • If traveling with a wheelchairs/mobility aid with non-spillable dry or wet batteries (with a WCBD service code):
      • The battery’s terminals must be covered/enclosed to prevent short-circuiting.
      • The battery/batteries must be properly attached to the mobility aid/wheelchair. If this cannot be done:
        • The battery/batteries should be removed. 
        • The wheelchair and/or mobility aid can be checked in without any restriction.
        • After being removed, the battery/batteries must be packed securely in sturdy, rigid packaging and then checked in. 
        • After being removed, the battery/batteries should be prevented from causing short-circuits.
        • Batteries with unclear or altered labels will not be accepted. 
        • The pilot must be informed of the packed battery’s location.
      • Electrical circuits must be isolated to prevent accidental operation. 
      • Batteries with unclear or altered labels will not be accepted. 
    • If traveling with a wheelchair/mobility aid with wet spillable batteries (WCBW):
      • The spillable wet battery/batteries can remain in the wheelchair/mobility aid if it can always be loaded, stored, secured, and unloaded when positioned upright—otherwise, it will not be accepted.
      • The battery’s terminals must be covered/enclosed to prevent short-circuiting.
      • The battery/batteries must be attached securely to the mobility aid/wheelchair. 
      • Electrical circuits must be isolated to prevent accidental operation. 
      • Batteries with unclear or altered labels will not be accepted. 
    • Lithium battery-powered wheelchairs and mobility aids (WCLB)
      • The batteries (incl. non-OEM or altered versions) must comply with every single test requirement specified in Part III, subsection 38.3 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria.
      • The test result copies must be presented for reference. 
      • Batteries with unclear or altered labels will not be accepted. 
      • The battery’s terminals must be covered/enclosed to prevent short-circuiting.
      • The battery/batteries must be attached securely to the mobility aid/wheelchair. 
      • Electrical circuits must be isolated to prevent accidental operation. 
      • The battery/batteries must be attached securely to the mobility aid/wheelchair. If this cannot be done:
        • The battery/batteries must be removed per the manufacturer’s instructions (both, of the battery and the wheelchair/mobility aid). 
        • The wheelchair/mobility aid can be checked in without any restriction.
        • The battery’s terminals must be insulated (such as by taping the exposed parts) to prevent any chances of short-circuiting. 
        • Each removed battery must be placed in a bag to prevent any chances of damage—and then taken in a carry-on bag in the cabin. 
        • The battery power must not be more than 300Wh, but if 2 batteries are being used in the device, the per-battery power must not be more than 160Wh. 
        • 1 spare battery of up to 300Wh or 2 spare batteries of up to 160Wh each can also be carried as cabin baggage.
      • When traveling on codeshare flights, provide the specifications in advance to avoid last-minute complications. 
      • The pilot must be informed of the packed wheelchair/mobility aid’s location.
  • How to check and return wheelchair/mobility aid at the gate 
    • Must inform in advance if you intend to use your personal equipment at the airport.
      • Departure airport. After checking in, head for the gate early to check in your personal equipment.
      • Arrival airport. After disembarking, wait till your personal equipment is sent to the gate.
    • Bring the instructions of the manufacturer (English, Chinese, and the languages of all the countries on your itinerary). If traveling on other airlines, you will need their confirmation as well.
    • Most aircraft (except A321) are designed to accommodate basic needs and include a wheelchair onboard for shuttling to and from the lavatory.
  • Passengers traveling with a service animal
    • Only fully-trained vaccinated service dogs and emotional support/psychiatric service dogs are accepted (emotional support animals will be treated as pets and handled per the guidelines applicable to checked pets). 
    • Service dogs can travel free of charge in the cabin.
    • At least 48 hours before departure, submit the forms to the Special Assistance Desk.
    • For complete details, refer to the section titled How to Travel with a Service Animal on EVA Air.
  • Passengers requiring stretcher assistance 
    • Must contact EVA Air’s Reservations office at least 48 hours (i.e., 2 working days) before departure and request the stretcher service. 
    • Must submit the MEDIF sheet certifying passenger’s fitness to travel to the Reservations Office and receive advance approval from an EVA physician before travel. 
    • If medical treatment is required during the flight, at least one nurse or medical doctor must accompany the passenger. 
    • A stretcher fee equaling 6 standard Y-class adult fares of the highest class must be paid as a surcharge. For details, contact the EVA ticket office.
    • Not more than 1 stretchered passenger per flight segment is permitted in the Economy Class of select aircraft. 
  • Passengers requiring onboard medical oxygen 
    • Must request at least 48 hours before departure as the inbuilt supply systems are designed for emergencies. 
    • Must submit the Medical Information sheet (MEDIF) certifying the passenger’s fitness to travel to the Reservations Office at least 48 hours before the flight—and receive advance approval from an EVA physician before travel.
    • Passengers who require medical treatment during the flight must be accompanied by at least one nurse or medical doctor. 
    • A per-bottle and per-seat surcharge fare of USD 200 must be paid additionally. 
  • Passengers traveling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs) and Medical Portable Equipment Devices (MPEDs)
    • Must apply for and obtain medical clearance at least 48 hours before departure and inform the Reservations office of the device’s make and model.
    • Must carry sufficient batteries (in compliance with ICAO instructions) and ensure that they are fully charged and able to run the device for at least 150% of the maximum expected flight duration, as the inflight electrical power may not be operative or available on all flights and/or seats. 
    • Each spare battery should be prevented from short-circuits and taken in a carry-on bag (only).
    • The POC device:
      • Must be approved by EVA. 
      • Must have an attached label that it has been approved for use inside the aircraft.
      • Must comply with the weight and size limitations for carry-on baggage. 
      • Must be capable of being stowed under the front seat (failing which the passenger will need to pay for an extra seat to accommodate the POC.
      • Must be supported by a medical certificate (MEDIF) from the physician, issued less than 10 days before the flight’s departure. 
    • Must check in and reach the departure gate at least 60 minutes before departure.

  • Pregnant passengers
    • Pregnant passengers must provide a medical certificate if traveling after 28 weeks of pregnancy.
    • The following pregnant passengers must submit a MEDIF within 10 days of travel and confirm the booking within 48 hours of departure:
      • Pregnant passengers with uncomplicated single pregnancies between the last 12 to 4 weeks before confinement.
      • Pregnant passengers with uncomplicated multiple pregnancies between the last 12 to 8 weeks before confinement.
    • The following pregnant passengers will not be accepted (for safety reasons):
      • Pregnant passengers with uncomplicated single pregnancies in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy before confinement (36 weeks).
      • Pregnant passengers with uncomplicated multiple pregnancies in the last 8 weeks of pregnancy before confinement (32 weeks). 
      • Mothers within the first 7 days of giving birth.
    • Other things to remember:
      • The above-mentioned conditions may not apply to codeshare partners, so check with them. 
      • Pregnant passengers must inform the Reservations office of their expected delivery date and type of pregnancy (single or multiple), and carry their prenatal medical records supporting this information. 
      • Always check the destination country’s specific requirements from their local diplomatic office. 
      • False claims leading to flight disruptions and additional expenses may lead to legal actions for cost recovery.
  • Passengers traveling with infants and children 
    • Children under 2 years must be accompanied by an adult passenger. 
    • Babies below 7 days old will not be accepted.
    • If an adult is traveling with 2 small children or infants, one child must occupy a seat using an approved infant seat (and must be capable of sitting independently). 
    • Child Restraint Systems will not be accepted on Royal Laurel class seats (CARES, car seat, etc.
    • Children above 2 years of age must occupy an individual seat (per applicable child fare). 
    • Baby meals, diapers, and bassinets can be ordered in advance (after purchasing your ticket) from the EVA Air Reservations office. 
    • All aircraft are equipped with baby bassinets, but weight and height limitations will apply for safety reasons.

  • When making a reservation, provide the baby’s date of birth, weight, and height. 
  • Unaccompanied minors
    • Children between 5 to 12 years of age who are not accompanied by a passenger who is at least 16 years old are accepted as unaccompanied minors. 
    • Children above 12 years of age who have not attained majority status per the laws of the country of origin have the option to avail of the Unaccompanied Minors (UM) service on special request. 
    • The parent or guardian must fill out an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) form, along with the local contact details at the departure and arrival points.
    • The parent or guardian must notify EVA Air at the time of reservation that they are booking a flight for an unaccompanied minor. 
    • For itineraries including a transfer or stopover exceeding 4 hours, the parent or guardian must make advance arrangements for an authorized person to meet, pick up, and stay with the child at the layover/stopover point until the child checks in and continues with the journey.
    • Unaccompanied minors are required to travel on the applicable adult fare.
    • For trips involving other airlines, contact them directly for their specific procedures.

  • Passengers requiring vision assistance
  • Must inform EVA Air at least 48 hours before departure (if you didn’t place a Special Assistance request at the time of booking) by calling or your local EVA Reservations Office.

  • The flight crew will provide individual safety briefings (on demand) and any assistance required during the flight.

Note

  • If departing from the United States, go through TSA’s website for screening and procedure-related information. Also, refer to TSA’s Cares program for other travel-related information.
  • Medication-carrying passengers must carry their medicines in their carry-on bags instead of packing them in their checked baggage. 
  • Passengers are allowed to carry portable dialysis machines on flights to/from the United States but are not allowed to use them during the flight. If carrying, they must provide the dimensions (L + W + H) and weight of the machine to EVA Reservations in advance. 
  • Personal Oxygen Bottles are not allowed as carry-on or checked baggage for safety reasons.

Do I have to buy a ticket for my lap infant?

Yes, you do. The airfare for lap infants (7 days to below 24 months of age) is 10% of the fare of the accompanying adult. The child fare (2 to 12 years old) is 75% of the applicable adult fare in most cases (sometimes the rules may not allow a discount).

Children who reach their second birthday must travel on their seat, subject to the applicable fare. 

If an adult is traveling with 2 infants, only 1 infant can sit on the adult’s lap. The other adult must be able to sit in a separate seat using an approved car seat. The fare for the extra seat will be the same as that for children between 2 – 12 years old and must be booked either through the Ticketing Office or travel agency. If traveling on a Royal Laurel Class fare, Child Restraint Systems will not be accepted.
