Avianca Airlines requires that the name on your ticket appear correctly, i.e., it must exactly match the name appearing on your valid government ID, such as a passport or driver’s license. Otherwise, you may not be allowed to board your flight.

Name Change Policy due to Marriage, Divorce

If after purchasing your ticket you need to change your name because you got married or divorced, or for some other reason, you will need to show valid legal documentation to support the change of name, such as marriage certificate, divorce certificate, etc. Since this would result in the reissuance of your ticket, you will have to pay a penalty based on the fare conditions mentioned on your ticket.

What should I do if my name appears incorrectly on my ticket?

If your name appears incorrectly on your ticket, Avianca allows you to correct only misspellings for free. You’re allowed to modify only up to 3 characters on your ticket (PNR) without incurring additional charges.

If your ticket has already been issued and you want to modify more than 3 characters in your name, your original ticket (PNR) must be cancelled and a new PNR created based on availability. Such changes in PNR will incur a penalty fee based on your ticket’s fare conditions.

Avianca Airlines’ name change policy does not permit a complete change of name which would result in the ticket being transferred to another passenger.
