    • Your flight is rescheduled/delayed due to reasons beyond the airline’s control (such as bad weather).
    • You book a ticket on a route that is subsequently discontinued or cancelled.
  • If you are involuntarily denied boarding due to overbooking on a flight on which you have a confirmed reservation and have met all the airline’s travel requirements, you will be offered a seat on the next available flight. However, if this is not acceptable to you, you have the right to claim a refund, plus any compensation and care required by the applicable law.

Qantas 24-Hour Cancellation Policy

The Qantas 24-hour cancellation policy allows all passengers who purchase a ticket in the United States to cancel their reservation without any penalty if they:

  • Cancel their reservation within 24 hours of ticketing, and
  • Purchase their ticket at least 7 days before the first flight’s departure.

Qantas COVID-19 Cancellation Policy

If you or any passenger in your booking tests positive for COVID-19 during the week preceding your flight, you’re allowed to change (but not cancel) your travel dates without having to pay any change fee. Q. How do I cancel my ticket if I can’t contact my travel agent?

A. If you’re unable to contact your travel agent, you will need to fill out the Agent Assistance Request form. Qantas will request the agent to contact you directly or provide you with updated contact information. However, Qantas will contact you and discuss your options if your travel agent has closed shop. 

Q. What if I test COVID-positive before my flight?

A. If you test COVID positive before an eligible trans-Tasman or international flight, you can change your flight date free of charge as long as you travel by December 31, 2022. However, you will need to pay the applicable fare difference.
If you booked an eligible flight with Qantas Points, you can make changes to your travel dates or cancel your flight for no charge. However, flight changes will be subject to the applicable fare difference.

Q. What if Qantas cancels my flight?

A. If Qantas cancels your flight (incl. a Classic Flight Reward ticket), you don’t need to do anything—the airline will contact you.

However, if you booked your ticket directly through Qantas (website or local office) and you’re unable to make any changes to your booking via Manage booking, you will need to call the local Qantas office directly for assistance.

Q. Why are you sending me notifications for a flight I’ve already cancelled?

A. Flight cancellations are taking longer than normal to process due to the currently high cancellation volumes. If you’re still receiving flight updates, ignore them.

Q. I cancelled my flight by couldn’t find the Flight Credit option why?

A. If you cancelled your flight online via Manage booking and did not find the Flight Credit option, it could be because you purchased your ticket from a third party/website or that you’re not eligible for a Flight Credit.

Q. Why was my entire booking cancelled after I cancelled my booking online via Manage booking?

A. If you cancelled an online booking with multiple passengers, the entire booking gets cancelled by default for all the passengers on the booking.

A. That will depend on your fare type and whether you qualify for a refund. The best thing would be to call your local Qantas office for assistance.

Q. Can I get a refund on my add-ons like seating and extra baggage if my flight is cancelled?
