  • You can change a substitute flight (or cancel it) without penalty if your original flight is cancelled and the substitute flight does not suit you (you will only have to pay the fare difference if you’re changing destinations).
  • You can make changes to an Option Flex fare (Standard/Extra) for South and Europe packages (subject to availability) as follows:
    • Option Flex Standard fares allow you to change your travel dates, destination, or hotel up to 72 hours before departure without paying any change fee, and transfer your package to a friend up to 30 days before departure without paying any fees. 
    • Option Flex Extra fares allow you to change your travel dates, destination, or hotel up to 24 hours before departure without paying a change fee and transfer your package to your friend up to 30 days before departure without paying a fee.

Note: If the new package re-booked by you is costlier, you’ll have to pay the fare difference. 

  • If your Air Transat flight is cancelled or delayed by 3 hours or more:
    • You will be transported on the next available flight at no additional charge on Air Transat or an interline partner flight.
    • If the reason for your flight’s delay/cancellation is not within Air Transat’s control and it is unable to provide alternative transportation within 48 hours of your original flight’s departure, you will be offered alternative transportation either on Air Transat or an interline partner flight.
      • If space on the other airline is available only in a lower service class than your original flight’s service class, you will have the option to travel on the lower service class and get a refund of the fare difference or obtain a full refund of the unused part of your ticket.
    • If a large carrier is unable to provide alternative transportation on Air Transat/partner airline within 9 hours of your original flight’s departure time, you will be offered alternative transportation on another carrier no later than 48 hours of the original flight’s departure time. 
    • If the reason for the flight delay/cancellation is outside the control of the large carrier’s control and you cannot be provided alternative transportation on the carrier or a partner carrier within 48 hours of your flight’s departure time, you will be offered transportation on the next available flight operated by another carrier. 
    • If no suitable alternative transportation can be arranged, you will be refunded the unused part of your ticket, and when necessary, you will be transported back to your point of origin at no additional cost within reasonable time. If the flight delay/cancellation is outside the airline’s control, you will be entitled to a refund only 48 hours after your original flight’s departure time. 

Note: You may be entitled to a compensation of CAD 125 (for small carrier flights) and CAD 400 (for large carrier flights) if the flight delay/cancellation is within Air Transat’s control, no safety issues were involved, and you were informed within 14 days of your original flight’s departure. 

Air Transat Change Fees for Flights

Air Transat does not charge a change fee, as long as you change your flight ticket within the permissible deadlines. You cannot make flight changes to Eco Budget fares outside of the 24-hour grace period but you can change all other fares (Eco Standard, Eco Flex, Club Standard, and Club Flex) without paying any change fee, provided:

  • You make the changes at least 24 hours before departure, and 
  • You pay the applicable fare difference between the old and new fares

Air Transat Flight Delay Compensation

If your flight is disrupted due to reasons within the airline’s control and not because of safety reasons, you are entitled to the following compensation: 

  • If you reach your destination between 3 hours and less than 6 hours later, you will be entitled to a compensation of CAD 125 on a small carrier and CAD 400 on a large carrier. 
  • If you reach your destination between 6 and less than 9 hours later, you will be entitled to a compensation of CAD 250 on a small carrier and CAD 700 on a large carrier.

To make a flight disruption claim, you will need to submit a request through this form within 1 year of your flight’s disruption date. You will hear from Air Transat within 30 days of receiving your claim.
