No compensation will be due if you’re offered an alternative flight to your destination, unless that flight is delayed in which case the compensation will be reduced by 50%, depending on the length of the delay.
- If you are prevented from travelling because of illness (even after starting your journey), TAP Airways may extend your ticket’s validity (incl. the ticket validity of the family members accompanying you) until you’re ready to travel, subject to:
- Availability of space in the same class of service originally booked by you
- The presentation of a valid hospital admission certificate
If your flight coupon/e-ticket comprises one or more than one stopover, the validity period of the ticket can be stretched by 3 months starting from the recovery date shown on the certificate.

If an immediate family member of a passenger dies after the passenger has commenced the journey, the validity period of the passenger’s ticket, as well as that of those (i.e., immediate family members) accompanying the passenger, will be modified by the airline. Any flight modification due to death is subject to the presentation of a valid death certificate and the extension period of the ticket shall not exceed 45 days after the date of the death.
